World's largest religious monument at 162.6 hectares

Angkor Wat was built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, later converted to Buddhism. It took an estimated 300,000 workers and 6,000 elephants to build. The temple is oriented west (unusual for Hindu temples) and the outer wall encloses 162.6 hectares. It appears on Cambodia's national flag.
