    Overview

The Cambodia Tourist Visa (T-visa) is the most common visa type for visitors. It allows a single entry into Cambodia for tourism purposes with a stay of up to 30 days. The visa can be obtained through three methods: e-Visa (online), Visa on Arrival, or through a Cambodian embassy or consulate.

Most nationalities are eligible for the tourist visa. The process is straightforward and approval rates are high for genuine tourists. Cambodia has made visa processing increasingly simple to encourage tourism.

    Who Can Apply

Citizens of most countries can obtain a Cambodia tourist visa. Only a few nationalities have restrictions or require special processing. The following groups have specific rules:

    No Visa Required (ASEAN Members)

Citizens of ASEAN member states (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar) can enter Cambodia visa-free for stays up to 14-30 days depending on nationality.

    Standard Tourist Visa Available

Most other nationalities including USA, UK, EU countries, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, China, and India can obtain the tourist visa through any method without restrictions.

    Restricted Nationalities

Citizens of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Sudan must apply through a Cambodian embassy and cannot use e-Visa or Visa on Arrival.

    How to Apply

There are three ways to obtain a Cambodia tourist visa. Each method has advantages depending on your travel style and entry point.

    E-Visa (Online Application)

The e-Visa is the most convenient option for most travelers. Apply online at the official Cambodia e-Visa website before your trip. Processing takes 3 business days.

    1. Visit the official e-Visa website: evisa.gov.kh
    2. Complete the application form with personal details
    3. Upload a passport-style photo and passport bio page scan
    4. Pay $36 USD ($30 visa fee + $6 processing fee) by credit card
    5. Receive approval by email within 3 business days
    6. Print the e-Visa and present at immigration

    E-Visa Advantage

E-Visa holders can skip the Visa on Arrival queues at airports, saving 30-60 minutes. Highly recommended for peak travel seasons.

    Visa on Arrival

Visa on Arrival is available at Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap International Airport, and most land border crossings. The process is straightforward:

    1. Complete the arrival/departure card on your flight or at the border
    2. Fill out the visa application form (available at the visa counter)
    3. Queue at the Visa on Arrival counter
    4. Present passport, photo, and $30 USD cash (exact amount preferred)
    5. Receive visa sticker in passport within 15-30 minutes

    Cash Required

Bring $30 USD in cash for Visa on Arrival. Some crossings may charge $1-2 extra for processing. ATMs are available but may have high fees.

    Requirements

    • Valid passport: At least 6 months validity from entry date
    • Passport photo: Recent 4x6cm photo (e-Visa: digital upload)
    • Visa fee: $30 USD (additional fees for e-Visa)
    • Blank passport page: One page for visa sticker
    • Entry/departure card: Completed form (provided on arrival)

All tourist visas have the same base fee of $30 USD. E-Visa adds a $6 processing fee. Some land borders may request unofficial "processing fees" of $1-5 USD—while common, these are not official charges.

    Extending Your Stay

Tourist visas can be extended once for an additional 30 days, giving a maximum stay of 60 days. Extensions must be processed at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh or through a travel agent.

    • Extension fee: $45 USD for 30 days
    • Processing time: 1-3 business days
    • Where to apply: Immigration Department, Phnom Penh
    • Documents needed: Passport, one photo, extension fee

    Need More Time?

For stays longer than 60 days, consider a Business Visa (E-visa) which can be extended for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months. This is popular among digital nomads and long-term travelers.

    Common Mistakes to Avoid

    • Insufficient passport validity: Ensure 6+ months validity
    • No USD cash: Visa on Arrival requires exact cash payment
    • Wrong entry point for e-Visa: E-Visa only valid at select crossings
    • Overstaying: $10/day fine—extend before expiration
    • Working on tourist visa: Illegal—get business visa for work
    • Damaged passport: May be rejected—ensure good condition

    Frequently Asked Questions
