Sambor Prei Kuk
A pre-Angkorian temple complex and UNESCO World Heritage Site dating to the 6th–7th century. The ancient capital of the Chenla Empire, older than Angkor by 400 years.
Banteay Chhmar
A vast, remote temple complex in the northwest rivaling Angkor Thom in scale. Famous for its multi-armed Avalokiteshvara bas-reliefs and community-based tourism.
Phnom Banan
A hilltop Angkorian temple near Battambang with 358 steps to the summit. Five towers crown the hill, offering panoramic views over rice paddies and palm trees.
Phnom Chisor
A striking 11th-century hilltop temple south of Phnom Penh. The 400-step climb rewards visitors with sweeping views and the well-preserved sanctuary of Suryavarman I.
Ek Phnom
An 11th-century temple ruin beside a modern pagoda, located 11km north of Battambang. Known for its intricate lintel carvings depicting the Churning of the Ocean of Milk.
Prasat Kravan
A small Angkor-era temple with unique brick bas-reliefs of Vishnu and Lakshmi on the interior walls. One of the only temples with interior brick carvings.
Thommanon
A beautifully restored small temple just east of the Victory Gate of Angkor Thom. Its elegant devata carvings are among the finest in the Angkor complex.
Neak Poan
A unique island temple in the middle of Jayatataka Baray, accessible by a wooden walkway over water. It was originally an ancient Angkorian hospital.
Preah Khan
A vast monastery-university complex built by Jayavarman VII. Sprawling corridors, intricate carvings, and a rare two-story building make this one of Angkor's highlights.
Bakong
The first major temple-mountain of the Khmer Empire and centerpiece of the Roluos Group. A five-tiered pyramid representing Mount Meru, predating Angkor Wat by 250 years.
Lolei
The last temple of the Roluos Group, built on an island in the now-dry Indratataka Baray. Four brick towers with intricate sandstone carvings and Sanskrit inscriptions.
