Prasat Bay Kaek is a small pre-Angkorian brick temple in Prey Veng Province, east of the Mekong River. Dating to the 7th century during the Chenla period, the temple provides important evidence that the pre-Angkorian kingdoms extended their influence well beyond the Tonle Sap basin. The single brick tower retains sandstone door frames and lintel carvings in the typical Sambor Prei Kuk style. Located in a rural area surrounded by rice paddies, the temple is rarely visited but offers an authentic glimpse of Cambodia's deep archaeological heritage beyond the famous Angkor complex.
