Kratie Irrawaddy Dolphin Watch
Kratie is the best place in Cambodia (and arguably the world) to spot Irrawaddy river dolphins — a critically endangered freshwater species with fewer than 100 individuals remaining in the Cambodian Mekong. Small wooden boats (max 4 passengers) take you to the deep pools north of Kratie where the dolphins feed, and patient observation is rewarded with sightings of these gentle creatures surfacing, blowing, and occasionally breaching. Dawn and late afternoon offer the best sighting chances. The experience is peaceful, moving, and a reminder of what's at stake in Mekong conservation.
