The Cambodian national anthem, "Nokoreach" (meaning "Royal Kingdom"), was composed in 1941 and adopted upon independence in 1953. It was replaced during the Khmer Rouge era but restored in 1993 after the Paris Peace Accords. The anthem invokes Buddhist blessings and the glory of the Khmer Empire.
