Overview
Bavet–Moc Bai is the principal Cambodia–Vietnam crossing and the backbone of the Phnom Penh–Ho Chi Minh City corridor. It is efficient and traveller-friendly: cross-border bus companies collect passports and guide passengers through immigration on both sides. This crossing is open (unlike the Thai border).

Crossing Procedure
- 1Board a direct PP–HCMC bus (Giant Ibis, Mekong Express, Kumho Samco)
- 2At Bavet, complete Cambodian exit formalities with the conductor's help
- 3Cross to Moc Bai and clear Vietnamese immigration (have your Vietnam visa/e-visa ready)
- 4Re-board the same bus and continue to Ho Chi Minh City
Transport
Direct cross-border buses run the full PP–HCMC trip (~6–7 hours, $13–20) and handle the paperwork. Independent crossing is possible but the through-bus is far easier.
Tips
- •Sort your Vietnam visa/e-visa in advance — buses will not wait long
- •Keep small USD for any incidental fees
- •The conductor holding passports at the border is normal practice
