A hilltop trio of sandstone towers overlooking the vast Tonlé Sap lake — one of Yasovarman I's three hill temples.

Phnom Krom sits atop a 140-meter hill overlooking the great Tonlé Sap lake and is one of three hilltop temples built by King Yasovarman I (the others being Phnom Bakheng and Phnom Bok). The summit features three sandstone towers dedicated to the Hindu trinity — Shiva (center), Vishnu (north), and Brahma (south) — along with a long hall and other subsidiary structures. While the temple itself is in a state of significant decay, the panoramic views over the Tonlé Sap — Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake — are extraordinary, particularly at sunset. An active Buddhist monastery operates at the summit, and the climb passes through a village on the hillside.
