Airport History
1930s - French Colonial Era
The original airport was established during French colonial rule as a military and civilian airfield, serving the growing city of Phnom Penh and connecting Indochina.
1960s - Vietnam War Expansion
During the Vietnam War era, the airport saw significant expansion to handle increased military and civilian traffic. The runway was extended and new facilities were constructed.
1975-1979 - Khmer Rouge Period
Operations were severely disrupted during the Khmer Rouge regime. The airport fell into disrepair and international flights ceased entirely.
1990s - Reconstruction

2003-2006 - Modern Terminal
