🛕 Prasat Kravan

Prasat Kravan is a small Hindu temple consisting of five reddish brick towers in a north-south row. What makes this temple exceptional is its rare interior brick bas-reliefs — large-scale carvings executed directly on the brick walls inside two of the towers. The central tower features three magnificent depictions of Vishnu: striding across the ocean, riding Garuda, and in a multi-armed cosmic form. The northernmost tower contains equally impressive carvings of Lakshmi (Vishnu's consort). These interior brick carvings are virtually unique in Khmer architecture — most temples reserved their carved decoration for sandstone exteriors. The temple was extensively restored in the 1960s, with replacement bricks marked with "CA" (Conservation d'Angkor) to distinguish them from originals.
