Spean Thma ("Stone Bridge") is a remarkable ancient bridge spanning the Siem Reap River between Thommanon and the East Baray. What makes this structure fascinating is that it was built entirely from recycled sandstone blocks taken from dismantled temples, with carved decorative elements still visible in the bridge stones. The bridge demonstrates the Angkorian empire's practical engineering capabilities and their willingness to recycle earlier architectural elements. During the dry season, the bridge stands above the riverbed; during monsoon season, water flows through its arches. It's easily visible from the road but rarely attracts visitors.
